No sneaky agenda? Let me help you find your "why."

As a strategic designer who thrives on helping conscious businesses shine, I know the power you hold. You juggle a million things, pour your heart into your craft, and crave to make a real difference in the world. But with limited time, how do you get your message heard by the right people? How do you stay motivated? And how do you stay fulfilled in a world that champions hustle and output as key success metrics? Let's talk your agenda... or your why:

Unlocking Your Why with Simon Sinek's Golden Circle

One of my favourite books of all time is 'Start With Why' by Simon Sinek (his TED talk is also amazing - here). You see the thing I love most about his work is that it reminds me that success, fulfilment and your magnetism as a business can be bigger than your yearly turnover, or your fanciness. Yes those things are great but we're learning how much more impactful it is to have an underlying mission that drives everything you do.

Simon Sinek has an incredible concept called the Golden Circle, it's based on the idea that the most inspiring leaders focus on their "why" first. In our case, that's your core purpose, agenda, and the reason your business exists beyond just the bottom line.
Let's break it down into the three circles, tailored for your conscious mission:

Your Why

This is the heart of your business.  What ignites your passion? Is it empowering others to radiate confidence through makeup artistry? Building spaces that inspire creativity and sustainability?
Here's an example that echoes your own words: My clients' "why" might be to create a world where passion fuels purpose. They believe, just like you, that the world needs more people using their gifts to make a difference.
Action: Take some time to reflect on your core values and what truly matters to you and your team. What kind of impact do you want to create with your business?

Your How

This is your unique approach.  How do you translate your "why" into actionable strategies?
Imagine: For a builder, this might be using eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices. For a makeup artist, it could be offering personalized consultations and celebrating diversity through their work.
Action: Consider your daily operations. What methods and values guide your decisions and how you serve your customers?

Your What

This is the tangible output – the products, services, or experiences you offer.
Imagine: Building energy-efficient homes, offering makeup tutorials that empower individuals, or creating personalised meal plans with educational resources.
Action: Look at your business offerings. How does your "what" (the products or services you provide) align with your "why" and "how"?

Crafting your business "Why" statement

Your business why statement is a powerful sentence that encapsulates your purpose and approach. Here's a template to get you started, infused with your own inspiring message:
We help [target audience] achieve [desired outcome] through [your unique approach], because we believe the world needs more people helping others rise through their passions, and businesses.

“People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe”

The power of a (not so hidden) agenda

A strong business why isn't just about self-discovery. It acts as a magnet, attracting customers who share your values and vision. It fuels your marketing efforts and allows you to showcase your passion authentically. Most importantly, it helps you create a business that makes a real difference in the world.
